  NEB Winter Training

The 2018 North East Baseball season begins long before the games on the field do. All of our teams, ranging from ages 12-18, have been practicing since the beginning of December. We look at the winter as the time to prepare yourself, both physically and mentally, for the intense Spring/Summer seasons.

Our younger teams, 12u-14u practice with their individual teams each weekend throughout the winter. Our coaches focus on preparing our players in terms of technique, fielding, hitting and pitching and also for game-like scenarios. Throughout all of our teams we aim to practice at an up-pace tempo in order to simulate game like speed. These teams also have the opportunity to attend multiple skills clinics throughout the week, focusing on specific topics week to week.

Our high school teams, ranging from 15u-18u, practice collectively each weekend. Our teams practice together in order to build not just a competitive atmosphere throughout practice, but also to build relationships throughout the program. We want all our players to be proud to be a member of NEB, and to understand that the relationships they build through baseball, go much further than just on the field. Our high school players are able to break down in position specific groups and work on their craft. We also focus on becoming a quality baserunner, focusing on not just speed, but awareness and creating good reads.

Again this year we were able to have all of our teams practice at the bubble on the campus of Boston College. The BC Coaching Staff has been so grateful in their sharing of facilities and knowledge to our players and coaches. The bubble allows us to create game-like scenarios in a full field setting. This gives our infielders the ability to have true game ground balls prior to the season. It also allows our outfield to work on making throws to bases and close to game fly balls.

We are fortunate enough to have players and coaches who are committed to their development and are willing to work at their craft. We are looking forward to having a terrific spring and fall season!
