Despite some of the hottest temps the New England area has seen in almost 8 years,  8 of the best programs in New England came together for the 3rd annual 16u and 17u New England Elite 8 in Providence and Newport, RI.

Both tournaments had a set up of teams playing 3 pool play games over Saturday and Sunday leading to a single elimination bracket on Monday for the title.

At the 17u level the CT Grind were the only team to go 3-0 and snagged the 1 seed and the only bye into the semi-finals. After beating the Maine Lightning 7-2, they were matched up with Baseball U-CT who had an impressive run to the finals by beating both AP Baseball and NEB Rays. In the championship LHP Alex Kalentek went 6 2/3 innings to lead The Grind to a 3-2 win.

At the 16u level NEB Jays won the tiebreaker with GBG Northeast and Team CT Baseball for the 1 seed after all 3 teams finished pool play 2-1. Playoff Monday was held at Salve Regina University, which saw the NEB Jays face off with GBG Northeast, in the championship. GBG took an early lead and tacked on late for a 6-1 victory. Connor Cook was named tournament MVP
