NE Stampede-Black Wins 14u NEB Classic

It took all the way to the 7th Inning of the Championship but the New England Stampede pulled away for a 5-1 win over the New England Reds to take home the 14u NEB Classic title. With the game tied 1-1 going into the 7th the Stampede were able to push across 4 runs and hold off a bases loaded rally by the New England Reds in the bottom of the 7th to win. The win capped off a perfect 5-0 weekend for the Stampede.

The Stampede advanced to the championship by winning Pool B and beating Pool D winner Nor'Easters-Prospects 12-2 in the semi-finals. The New England Reds advanced to finals by winning Pool A and beating Pool C winner Jr Spinners-Red 15-14 in a slugfest which included a rally by the Spinners down 15-10 and scoring 4 runs in the Bottom of the 7th before they had the tying run thrown out 2nd Base. The Reds finished the weekend 4-1.

Tournament MVP was Grant Lavigne from the NE Stampede. He went 8 for 11 on the weekend with a Home Run and 6 strong innings pitched.
